Fruit, Oh How We Love Fruit

Today we began with our Bible time.  We started at the beginning studying the days of creation.  Keirstyn, Natalie, Alex, and Joshua are making a book on the days of creation.  We did the first two pages of the book today and we will do a few more each day until we finish the book on Friday.

The big kids, including Keirstyn, spent the morning doing karate with Sensei Steve in Momence.  The three little ones left at home got to do "PE" too.  Organized outdoor games are great - we tried to do races with a ball fairly unsuccessfully.  Alex was a pro but Natalie and Joshua had lots of trouble.  So we switched to imaginative play in the sand instead.  They decided to build a road for Lighting McQueen to drive on.  It was fun to watch the imagining and the cooperation.

During snack time for the little ones came the highlight of the day.  The neighbor Mark was mowing across the street and got his mower stuck.  He had to walk home and bring his truck and chains down to pull the mower out the ditch.  We all went to the front steps to watch and cheer him on.  He did not even notice his fan club.

Fruit filled the rest of our morning.  The kids got to sample 19 different fruits.  The ones they liked most were banana and oranges.  Apples, strawberries, and raspberries came in a close second.  Lemon was the least liked fruit but there were a few sour pusses who really liked it.  After the tasting came lunch making.  Ellana, Keirstyn, and Josh made a fruit salad out of the remaining fruit.  Alex and Natalie helped Evan butter bread for grilled cheese.  Sean grilled the sandwiches and Aric prepared the drinks.

The afternoon was filled with making a bar graph with our favorite fruit information, math, and reading.  Another great day at Turrell Academy.
