Chickens & Ducks

Today we took a field trip to learn firsthand about chickens and ducks.  We have family who keep chickens and ducks in their backyard so we went to visit them.  They are animal lovers who take in lots of stray and hurt animals but there is one type of animals that Mark will not touch - birds.  Mark has been attacked by birds of many sorts and so he refuses to touch the ones in his backyard.  He uses a fishing net to catch the birds, which they hate with a passion.  The kids were amazed at how soft the birds were and by how many feathers covered their bodies.  They also examined the differences between the chicken's feet and the duck's feet.  We put one duck in the swimming pool to demonstrate how they swim.  It was a perfect way to teach everyone about ducks and chickens!!  Thanks Steph and Mark for letting us terrorize your birds today.
